Pink eye or conjunctivitis is a very contagious disease that can either be caused by a virus or a bacterium. Honey, for instance is such a substance because it has antibacterial properties. It helps reduce the inflammation and also provides relief from the pain. The best thing you can do is to put one or two drops of honey directly in the affected eye. Dilute the honey with a little water if necessary. However, be aware of the fact that honey might cause a little discomfort. If you want to avoid it, dilute 3 tablespoons of honey into two cups of hot water, allow the liquid to cool and then wash your eyes with it.
